The Fix-It Man

http://www.dimitypowell.com/the-fix-it-man/

This is it...my first picture book baby. And you'll have to forgive me for wanting to crow about it; I was born in the Year of the Rooster after all and this is our year. Well, it's publication year in any case and from March 1st 2017 you'll be able to admire and cherish this picture book hopefully as much as I.

This picture book is a poignant look at the way a young girl copes with the loss of her mother. Replacing and repairing damaged emotions is not always as straightforward as gluing a broken kite back together or sewing up a torn toy. By sticking together with her dad, she is able to strengthen her resilience and ability to cope with one of life’s harsher lessons – loss.

Nicky Johnston's beautiful watercolour illustrations breathe heart and soul into this story. They are exactly the way I envisaged this family and fill me with raw emotion every time I look them.

You'll find lots more information about The Fix-It Man, including teachers' notes, reviews and testimonials about how brilliant it is (😁) on my website, or at its birthplace, at EK Books.

We are also fixing to throw a few celebrations to launch The Fix-It Man, almost too many to list - visit EK Books Events page for all the low down and highlights on events, author and illustrator appearances, book signings and presentations. A comprehensive listing of more of my 2017 appearances and engagements can be found, here.
